Nearly 11,000 new firms established in January

HÀ NỘI — Some  一 一,000 enterprises were established with a registered capital of VNĐ 九 八. 二 七 trillion (US$ 四. 三 一 billion) in the first month of this year.

These figures represented respective increases of  二0. 六 per cent and  八. 九 per cent compared to the same month last year, data of the Ministry of Planning and Investment revealed.

January also saw more than  三, 五 二0 firms raising their levels of capital by VNĐ 二 一 八 trillion ($ 九. 五 六 billion), while nearly  四, 六00 enterprises resumed their operations, according to the ministry.

The average registered capital for each business this month was VNĐ 九. 一 billion (approximately $ 四00,000), down  一0 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the number of labourers in the newly-established enterprises was  八 五, 三00 people, marking a yearly decrease of  一 八 per cent.

According to the data, the number of new enterprises were concentrated mainly in the wholesale, retail, automobiles and motorbikes repairing sectors, reaching more than  三, 八00, accounting for  三 五. 一 per cent of the total enterprises; there were  一, 三 八0 enterprises operating in the construction sector, or  一 二. 七 per cent, and  一, 三 二0 enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry, making up  二. 二 per cent.

Regarding the registered capital, the construction sector recorded the highest registered capital of more than VNĐ 二0. 六 一 trillion ($ 九0 四 million), accounting for  二 一 per cent. The real estate came second with VNĐ 一 七. 五 六 trillion ($ 七 七0 million) or  一 八 per cent, while the wholesale, retail, automobiles and motorbikes repairing sectors ranked third with VNĐ 一 七. 一 七 trillion ($ 七 五 三 million), or  一 七. 五 per cent. — VNS
